Winston Churchill
Winston Churchill was the prime minister of Britain during World War II. He was an active leader in resisting the force of Germany. He also played a big part in assembling the Allied Powers.
Hirohito
Hirohito was the Emperor of Japan from 1926 until he died in 1989. He played an active role in leading Japan during World War II. After Japan was defeated in the war, Hirohito was allowed to continue to hold his position of Emperor- even though Japan was under U.S. occupation.
Adolf Hitler
Adolf Hitler was the leader of Germany from 1933 to 1945 until he committed suicide. He was the leader of the Nazi Party in the 1920's. He took a very active role in the government of Germany during his ruling. He made military decisions and condemned Jews to death at concentration camps in parts of Europe that Germany controlled. Just before Germany surrendered in 1945, Adolf Hitler committed suicide in Berlin.
Franklin Delano rooselvelt
Franklin Delano Roosevelt was the 32nd president of the United States. He led the country through most of World War II. President Roosevelt played a big role in holding together the Allied Powers that defeated Nazi Germany. He died from a cerebral hemorrhage in April 1945 just a few months before the war ended.
Joseph stalin
Joseph Stalin was the leader of the Soviet Union from 1922 until he died in 1953. He was responsible for the Soviet Union's losses at the beginning of World War II. He did not listen to the warnings of his advisors and did not let the Russian military prepare a proper defense. Though he was successful in keeping the country together and resisting Germany, which caused the German's to retreat.
Yamato Isoroku
Yamamato Isoroku was a Japanese naval admiral. He planned the surprise attack on Pearl Harbor in 1941. He also planned the attack on Midway in 1942.
Harry s. truman
Harry Truman was the 33rd President of the United States. He took over after the death of Franklin D. Roosevelt in April 1945 and led his country through the last few months of World War II. He is the person who made the decision to use two atomic bombs against the Japan in August 1945. When the war was over, President Truman started the Marshall Plan which greatly helped Europe's economic recovery.
Dwight d. Eisenhower
Dwight D. Eisenhower was an United States Army General. He held the position of Supreme Allied Commander in Europe. General Eisenhower planned Operation Overlord, which was the Allied invasion of Europe. After the war ended, he was a popular figure in the U.S. He was elected to two terms as President of the United States, taking office in 1953.
